Spring Sports

We here at the Tighe house have a simple rule when it comes to sports...one at a time. We let the kids choose what they want to do, and this spring they chose gymnastics.

The Derda Rec Center in our neighborhood has a fantastic gymnastics center, really pretty impressive for a public facility...

Jan and I are envious of the kids and wish we could go leap into the foam pit, but no adults allowed unless they are a coach...

Time for warm-ups and stretching...

And don't forget to master the balance beam...

Not a bad $42 investment for eight weeks of fun...one more week to go!

Duck Duck, Goose Goose

Doing life with neighbors isn't rocket science. It only requires availability and a prayerful attitude. We had the Brinkers over last night for steaks, eating outside on the patio. A neighbor friend, Ruby came along looking to play with Jonatha and Aidan, so we invited her to join us at the park.

When we returned from the park, Ruby's sister, Jade and her friend Kelsey wanted in on the fun, so all the kids played duck duck, goose goose in our front yard. That led to meeting another new neighbor, Kelly (Kelsey's mom). We visited with Penny (Ruby and Jade's mom) and Kelly for a bit while the kids played.

What would be considered normal neighbor activity is so much more in our minds. We want to be on display for Christ's love in our neighborhood. By simply visiting in the front yard, we know God can open doors to show his love and share the Gospel. We pray for these opportunities and hope God will continue to allow us to connect with our neighbors. We've lived on Spyglass Dr. for two months now and have been able to have conversations with 6 households representing 15 different people. Praise God!

Honor Your Mother

Jonatha's Kindergarten class at Monarch did a great job honoring their mommas on Friday. Jan received some pretty royal treatment from a bunch of 6 year olds.

Jan got hooked up with a foot rub, massage, hair treatment, and makeover. Afterwards, they went out for lunch with other moms at a local coffee shop in Superior. Not a bad deal. I can't wait for Father's Day...oh wait, it's in June. Bummer!

Marshall Mesa Hike

The Tighe clan took a hike on one of our favorite spots in Boulder County today - Marshall Mesa. It has great spots for family hiking with it's easy grades, rocky trails, clear creek, and views of the Flatirons.

Aidan even snapped a pretty good photo for us...not bad for a four year old!

Rock Climb

Jonatha and Aidan performed their first official rock climb at the climbing wall at Derda Rec center. Our rec center has a 3500 sq ft. wall which is pretty awesome. The kids tackled the beginner wall, 35 ft. of vertical. Here's one side of the wall...

I was signing some paperwork for release when I hear people congratulating Jonatha. I look up and see her 35 ft. up about to ring the bell, just 2 minutes after starting her climb.
And I was soooooo proud of Aidan. He takes after me and is the cautious one, and fearful of heights to boot. He got strapped in, and hit that wall like a man. After two grips, he slipped, swung around the corner and hit his head on the wall. I thought that would be the end of it, but he got down, looked at the wall and hit it again, climbing 8ft. up the wall...no tears.
Both kids loved it. Jonatha went three times, Aidan two times. I have a feeling we'll be back for more very soon.
